IQ Routes technology gives you a faster route in over 50% of all your journeys. TomTom provides the fastest and most efficient routing possible. IQ Routes uses historical road-speed data from millions of TomTom users to calculate your optimal route for that specific time and day. Giving you local knowledge on a global scale.. We all know traffic is different during a Monday morning rush hour from a lazy Sunday afternoon. And we all want the best shortcuts to bring us to our destination in the fastest way possible. But heavy traffic, speed bumps, traffic lights, rotaries and even pedestrians or shopping crowds can slow you down. That handy shortcut you’re looking for changes depending on the time and day so the shortest route isn’t necessarily going to be the fastest all the time! Let’s take an example: The standard shortest route from Leominster, MA to the downtown Boston shopping district at a relatively quiet time, and without any hold-ups, should take an hour and 18 minutes (screen 1). Infographic IQ Routes: However, that same shortest route will typically take you 20 minutes longer during a busier period (reality) (screen 2) Using ‘local knowledge’ gained from the actual travel experiences of thousands of TomTom users on these very roads, IQ Routes™ instantly works out your optimal route from Leominster to Downtown Boston. It also calculates your realistic journey time, based on real speeds people are able to drive, not just speed limits. (screen 3) As you can see, in this case your route is now about 15 miles longer, but will save you 12 minutes (and a ton of stress!). Now that’s a shortcut! Twelve minutes may not sound much, but it’s over 20% off your journey time. Just consider for a moment how much time that will save you over a whole year… Exactly! And it’s not just urban driving. Whether its roundabouts, crossroads, schoolchildren or just good old-fashioned congestion. Anywhere the traffic flow can vary, IQ Routes can make a real difference. How it works Millions of TomTom users worldwide voluntarily provide us with anonymous historical speed-data from each of their journeys every time they connect their device to TomTom HOME. As a result, TomTom now has a huge database, containing billions of miles of real customer driving experience, collected over the years from more than 7 million TomTom users. Using this data, TomTom’s unique IQ Routes technology calculates your optimal route. This route is based on actual speed data driven on roads, not just maximum speed limits, taking into account any hold-ups that might slow you down (busy junctions, zebra crossings and even shopping crowds). This data enhances the quality of TomTom navigation across the board, but is particularly helpful in improving the quality of detailed routing we give you for the specific time of day and day of the week of your chosen trip. Drive like local So even if you drive through unfamiliar areas, you still can drive like a local by knowing the short cuts that are based on the collective driving experience of millions of TomTom users. New -- Advanced Lane Guidance Extra clarity when you navigate difficult junctions. See clearly the lane you must follow at junctions, so you don’t miss your turn. At complex intersections, you also get a clear 3D image showing your route through the junction. Leaving you relaxed and safe. When you approach complex motorway intersections, you also get a still 3D image on your screen that clearly indicates the lane(s) you need to take. Advanced lane guidance keeps you relaxed and safe through even the most complex intersections and in even the heaviest traffic. Let’s take an example: You’re on the outskirts of Paris, driving on the ‘Autoroute du Soleil’ towards Lille, when a complex junction approaches (screen 1) You have your normal 3D navigation view up to 800 metres from the junction. (screen 2) From 800 meters until you’re through the junction, your TomTom device displays a clear image of the junction. This shows the relevant road signs with numbers and directions, and a blinking arrow that clearly shows which lane you must take. Your screen throughout this has the still image and your status bar remains updated with dynamic information. (screen 3) As soon as you’re through the junction, your screen reverts to the normal view.  TomTom MapShare -- Maps Served Fresh Daily With TomTom Map Share you can update your map directly on your device as and when you spot road changes, and download daily updates from millions of Map Share users worldwide via your computer. Enabling Map Share gives you: instantly improved maps every day on your TomTom device entry into the world’s largest navigation community the ability to share improvements daily with other TomTom users full control over improvements that are uploaded and downloaded the best and most accurate maps available – always. Map Share changes you can make instantly: Block / unblock street Reverse traffic direction Edit street name Add missing Points of Interest Edit Points of Interest. Report other error When joining the Map Share community you can select various 'levels of trust'. You might decide to only receive improvements that have been verified by TomTom or changes that have been submitted by tructed sources, by many , or by some people. Hands-Free Calling In more and more places, it is becoming illegal to use cell phones while driving without a hands-free kit. Your TomTom's Bluetooth capability, microphone and speaker lets you match it to any bluetooth-capable phone to make hands-free mobile phone calls. Plus, you can automatically answer your phone calls, for improved safety and comfort. Map Guarantee Due to Amazon's high volume of sales and frequency of inventory turnover, just about every portable GPS navigator sold by Amazon.com will come with the most recent map version. TomTom however, goes one better. Because TomTom regularly releases new maps, there's always a small chance that a newer map has been released since the production of your TomTom. NOTE: if this option is not shown your device has the latest map. You can check as many times as you like within 30 days from the date you first use your TomTom device. Enhanced Positioning Technology Enhanced Positioning Technology uses movement and gravity sensors to calculate drivers’ positions when GPS signals are unavailable. Enhanced Positioning Technology ensures the device continues to navigate to its destination, even in circumstances where there may not be a direct line-of-sight connection to a satellite (for example, when driving in a city with tall buildings, underpasses or bridges), to provide a smoother navigation experience. Voice Address Input Simply speak the city, street name and address number you would like to travel to, and the device will automatically calculate the route. New -- Send Addresses Directly from Google Maps or Mapquest Search for the location you want. Pick "Send to GPS". Itching to try out a new restaurant, or setting off on a road trip to locate the best donuts on the west coast? Enhance – buy maps, subscribe to traffic and safety camera information services (optional). QuickGPSfix Starting up can seem like a slow business, particularly if you’re in a hurry, because the GPS receiver needs to know exactly where each GPS satellite is to calculate your location. But satellites only broadcast their positions once every 30 seconds. So if any of their signals are interrupted, for example by passing high buildings, the whole position-fixing process has to repeat itself again and again until the perfect fix is achieved.  QuickGPSfix takes a smarter approach. QuickGPSfix can speed up the time it takes to fix your GPS position by downloading the latest satellite data via an Internet connection. Just connect your TomTom device to your computer and TomTom HOME automatically downloads ‘QuickGPSfix’ – a special GPS data file that helps your TomTom fix your position quicker, even when the GPS signal is weak or partially blocked. This unique free service  helps you fix your position and get navigating faster than ever. On the road or no access to TomTom HOME? Get the same ‘QuickGPSfix’ data by simply connecting to any TomTom PLUS service, using a wireless data connection. As soon as a connection is established, the ‘QuickGPSfix’ data is automatically updated. Note: QuickGPSfix data has limited validity. So to keep on getting a faster position-fix, re-connect your device at least once a week. To minimise the amount of data sent over your wireless data connection, this automatic update is only carried out if the data on your device is over 5 days old. The associated data usage of this service is less than 10 Kb per connection. Please contact your mobile service provider to determine the exact costs. To disable this automatic update, just select ‘Disable Auto QuickGPSfix’ on your TomTom device. Fun Extras to Personalize Your TomTom New smart & fun extras to personalize users’ devices Recording driving instructions in your own voice Buy fun voices from TomTom Exchange files (of photos, songs, HTML documents, etc) between your TomTom and any other Bluetooth-enabled device (laptop, phone, other TomToms) Select a favorite car icon on the screen Load, store and preview photos from your digital camera. Enjoy music with the built-in MP3 player (earphones connector available via an optional SD card) TomTom Traffic TomTom offers two distinctive ways of providing traffic information, the TomTom PLUS Traffic service and the TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver accessory. With both options, traffic information is fully integrated into the TomTom navigation experience. Both services are subscription based. The RDS-TMC receiver accessory comes with a 1-year free subscription to the TMC traffic service . Key features for both Traffic information options Real-time traffic information across the US, using the most accurate and up-to-date sources. Detailed incident reports, delay times estimated, alternative routes proposed and if enabled automatic rerouting. Accurate real-time warnings about dangerous road conditions ahead (fog, snow, ice and so on) anywhere in Europe, Australia and the US. (TomTom application version 6.0 or higher) Clear on-screen animated or spoken  traffic alerts as and when you want them. Smart push technology which minimizes the amount of data needed to update traffic information on your device Smart subscription – when you buy new maps, the Traffic service automatically becomes available in those countries too. TomTom Traffic Specifics With TomTom Traffic, you can avoid problems and check the road conditions and weather ahead at the same time. TomTom Traffic is delivered via GPRS signal and requires a compatible mobile phone with Bluetooth and a wireless data connection, such as GPRS, UMTS or CDMA, enable you to use PLUS Traffic information on any TomTom device. The advantages of TomTom Traffic are that it delivers information on road and weather conditions, and GPRS signals may be available for areas in which there is no FM  radio signal to transmit TMC traffic information (although if there's no radio, it's questionable how much traffic there's going to be). Important notes about TomTom Traffic: To use TomTom Traffic a compatible phone with a wireless data connection (e.g. GPRS) is required. Click here to check if your phone is compatible. Also note that your mobile service provider may charge you for using a wireless data connection. Click here to check the associated data usage of this service. Please contact your mobile service provider to determine the exact costs. TMC Traffic Specifics With an RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver accessory, you can get traffic information from the RDS-TMC Traffic service, which is delivered over unused FM radio channels. The RDS-TMC receiver accessory comes with a 1-year free subscription to the TMC traffic service With some TomTom models, an RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver is included in the box. This is indicated by the addition of "T" or "Traffic" to the model name. An example is "GO 930T". I've heard the great news about the TOMTOM 930 with IQROUTES, lane guidance, and the HOME feature so I decided to buy the 930 so I can give it a spin and compare it to the NUVI 760 with MSN DIRECT. TOMTOM Pluses: Arrival time - The arrival time with IQROUTES are MORE accurate than Garmin's. The NUVI keeps updating the arrival time during the trip. I compared the arrival time from the start and the TOMTOM was more accurate. TOMTOM is constantly collecting the travel times and updating their database. When you sign in to the HOME program the IQroutes from your trips are uploaded to the TOMTOM server. Routes: If anyone writes a review about a GPS and states that routes are 100% accurate then they are lieing, I have not found the perfect GPS with perfect routes. The routes on both the 930 and the NUVI 760 have been identical. With the 930 I see minutes left on the trip, time left, and arrival time. I can even tell the 930 what time I would like to arrive at my destination.I can AVOID any of the roads on my trip. You CANNOT avoid roads on the NUVI 760. TRAFFIC: I'm using traffic on the 930 through my ATT Tilt phone and it seems to work and it is accurate. It uses my Tilt to access the traffic on the TOMTOM server through the Internet. If you have cell coverage you should have traffic data. MSN Traffic on the 760 is not accurate and the avoidance feature does not work that well. The bad thing about the MSN Direct feature is that it does not have good range. I live in Chicago and the service does not work in many of the outlying suburbs. PLUSES: Iqroutes are more accurate than the NUVI. Lane guidance works in my area. Avoiding roads on your trip. Being able to correct street names, closed streets, one ways, and many other errors is a big plus. Traffic works well. The GPS chip has not lost reception. I've lost the signal numerous times on the NUVI. More information on the 930 screen than on the 760. TOMTOM minuses: The screen is hard to see in sunlight. The maps are not bad since I loaded the Garmin map look on the 930. I even have the magenta route line on my 930. The battery does not last more than 1 hour. The Text to speech does not work all the time. The street names are not pronounced as good as the NUVI. You don't get the constant reminders that the NUVI 760 provides. Sometimes I don't think that I drive the 930 with my eyes close. With the 760 you can close your eyes and not miss a turn. I cannot locate an address by ANY city like the NUVI. Sometimes the 930 cannot locate an address if it thinks it's in a different city. You have to input the surrounding city names to get the correct address and route. 160 of 168 people found the following review helpful. TOMTOM 930 By Vedat Bahadir Doganalp Hello, I have recently moved in USA and it is a big challenge to drive in USA w/out efficient and reliable GPS. As soon as I landed, I bought Tomtom 930 because Tomtom is very famous in Europe. Just recently, I have bought Garmin 680 for my wife and I have been using for for 3 days and can make proper evaluation despite time is short to make an accurate evaluation: PROS and CONS of Tomtom 930 & Garmin 680 1. Tomtom is a lot more user friendly with remote control. 2. You can find the locations with Zip Codes (I have not seen such spec in Garmin yet at least) 3. Tomtom's guidance is a lot better in complex areas (And with Lane help, it is even better). 4. Tomtom's map is not as good as Garmin's at least for USA. Garmin can find more destinations and more side streets. Tomtom is great only if you don't need every single street in each and every city. 5. Garmin has a lot better view on the screen when compared to Tomtom. It is more clearer and tells you on the screen the next street you must take and the distance left. I may feel it complicated on

Most helpful customer reviews 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. great scanner..frustrating to program By Stewart Billingsley I think this scanner is a great scanner. For the features that it has and for the price it is well worth it. I have several Uniden scanners and this one is the tops for features. Have had this scanner for several weeks now and am still trying to figure out all the features. You have to use this scanner to get the "feel" of everything it does. Mine is mounted at fingers length away on my radio console in my vehicle where I can just easily press buttons while I am driving. You need to be able to access this radio to capture frequencies and program on the fly. I have been and electronic technician for over 50 years and owned lots of radios and this one is a winner. Now for the bad news, the programming sucks. The manual on disk sucks and even the guys trying to tell you an easier way still leave things to be desired. Like one reviewer said it is frustrating, yes it is but get through that and it is a great radio. Oh the only bad thing I can say for Amazon is they could pad the radio when they ship it to you. Mine came in a box just the same size as the radio originally came in and that was it not one piece of paper more to pad it. So since it came through the mail it has been shock tested before I got it. Uniden makes a good product or I would have had screws loose inside the radio if it wasn't. Remember now this is not a digital capable scanner, so if you want that feature you will need to spend the extra bucks. This one does do narrow band and am/fm etc. I would have given it 5 stars except for the programming and the packing issues. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Good scanner but no written manual By BertMcknarly This is a very nice scanner with alot of features,up to 9000 channels stored in groups instead of banks, fire tone out, band scope etc. The biggest drawback is no printed manual. I agree with the other review, that this is very inconvienient.UNIDEN gives you a CD with instructions, which means your chained to your desk, or you have to lug a laptop around all the time.I use this scanner in my vehical, so it would have been nice to have a manual to keep in the glove box for quik reference. To find alot of the things you need to know requires going through many menus and sub-menus, and once you do find what your looking for, you had better remember where you found it, because there are so many menus it's easy to get lost. I wish UNIDEN would at least offer a manual that we could purchase for a few bucks, though after paying 220.00 for the scanner we shouldn't have to. Would have given 5 stars otherwise. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. BCT15 is being listed as a BCT15X By D. Werts Please check the Product Details and look for the Amazon ASIN number: ASIN: B002IT1C8U That is a BCT15. The BCT15X has ASIN number: ASIN: B00476SBWM The difference is 2500 channels vs. 9000 channels and 400 systems vs. 500. I feel sure it is an honest oversight but I spent several hours deciding on the purchase only to discover the error. I emailed one of the merchants and they pulled their unit off the site and they were very pleasant about the issue. Problem is there are still over 20 units from different sellers with the scanner listed with the improper information. The missing user manual is the fault of Uniden, not any seller. Uniden put it on a CD in .PDF format but even then did not make it printer friendly. The prices are comparable but the features and options are with the BCT15X > ASIN: B00476SBWM. Whenever I travel, I feel bad because my Sangean ATS-909 is a little too big to drag along. Besides size, cost was an important factor in my purchase decision. There were not many reviews for the Kaito KA11, but it had most of the features I wanted and overall Kaito radios have pretty good reviews. I ordered the radio online for $54 including shipping. As advertised, the radio is extremely small. Although small in size, this radio is packed with features. Overall, the buttons/controls are nicely laid out. Using the radio is very intuitive, but you may need to crack open the manual to use some of the features such as the sleep timer and the alarm clock. The manual is easy to read, but obviously translated to English so some of the sentences require some patience to understand. Features: The radio has 1000 memory locations (100 per page). You have the option to scan through the stored memory locations or just scan up/down by frequency. Even though the speaker is small, the radio still sounds good. Overall, sensitivity is decent and selectivity between strong adjacent stations is good. The radio displays both time and frequency. The backlight is orange and the LCD display is very easy to read. So far battery life seems very good. The left-side of the radio has an external antenna jack. The battery compartment door is attached...a welcome change. The package comes with an AC adapter, manual, ear bud headphones and a long-wire external antenna. If you use rechargeable batteries, it is possible to charge the batteries inside the radio (with the AC adapter). The whip antenna stores inside the radio. I am not sure I like this feature. Sometimes the antenna sticks while trying to push it back into the radio. Hopefully this will become less sticky over time. To set the clock, you need need to take the batteries out of the radio momentarily. The rotary volume control is very sensitive. Unfortunately, this makes it fairly easy to go from low volume to extremely loud without much movement. I also do not care for the location of the volume control. When the radio is lying flat on a table, you cannot adjust the volume. The carrying strap is permanently attached to the radio. This is a small annoyance. Unlike similar radios in its class, there is no pop-out stand. In my opinion, the frequency coverage should have included the 60 meter band. For future designs of this radio, I would like to see a slight change in memory functionality. If you manually punch in a frequency that is already in memory, I would like the behavior changed so it displays the memory location of that frequency. Right now, you have no way to know if a frequency is already in memory. There should also be an easy way to add a frequency to the next available memory location. Currently, you need to specify a memory location when saving a frequency. This increases the possibility that you may overwrite a memory location with a different frequency. In summary, I really love my Kaito KA11 radio and I am very happy with the purchase. It is definitely a great feature-packed radio, especially for its size and price. Most of the issues discussed above are minor annoyances and definitely not reasons to avoid this radio. 27 of 27 people found the following review helpful. Great Kaito super-portable digital AM/FM/SW radio By Ann E. Revelle PROS 1) The KA11 is a very small and highly portable PLL (Phase Locked Loop) Synthesized, fully capable digital AM(MW)/FM/SW radio receiver. The full digital tuning capability means that there is no need for frequency retuning once a station has been received with adequate strength, unlike the digital display readout for analog tuning on the very popular Grundig Mini300PE AM/FM/SW and many other digital display analog radios for example. 2) The KA11 is an excellent

It gets a satellite lock inside my house!!! The voice recognition is the gem in this thing. It really works and once you start using it, it is very useful and functional. You don't have to push buttons. Positives: Voice recognitions, lots of POIs, on-line sites like POI-Factory to add custom POIs (easy to do), and a very good set of features. I have tried (it works) but not extensively used the bluetooth hands free and mp3 player yet (8GB microSD card ordered) but I think it will be useful. MSN Direct is the way to go and works very well. I am getting helpful traffic updates in Louisville. Negatives: I have to say the volume on the unit should be higher. I realize the FM radio option is there, but sometimes you are listening to the radio or a CD and it is hard to hear the Garmin. On a trip do they expect you to only listen to the Garmin? I figure if I use the mp3 option on an FM channel that maybe that is a way around the CD because I assume it will give voice prompts through the music audio (have not tried). Also the few hands-free calls I have taken have given very poor sound on the Garmin speakers making it not useful (maybe a software update? Not sure they are using the A2DP or a good profile.). They must fixe these two issues. They should already have this perfected. One other small potential issue. The band for the voice recognition button barely fits my steering wheel (last notch), on some others that are larger it could be an issue (but I think this may be minor)? I will post more as I use it. I should give it 4 starts because of the sound issues. I will come back and re-review as I use it. It is worth buying. My brother and siter have Tom-Tom and another Garmin (780) and this is definitely better. The voice command and satellite lock really distinguishes it. When you are driving you don't want to have to reach and push buttons on it. Garmin, please improve the audio ASAP. 131 of 134 people found the following review helpful. After hours of research and use - A summary By Ferb I would have given the 885t five stars, but, it is disappointing that the 885t (flagship) is not really the top of the line as its name may insinuate. I considered many reviews and reluctantly, for the voice-recognition feature, decided on the 885t. Looking back I am pleased with the decision, but still troubled about some of the futures of the 7X5t series not included with the 885t. Hence, it gets only four stars. The voice-recognition feature works well and it is safer to use while driving as it allows one to operate the 885t while your eyes and concentration remain on the road. To tap around on a GPS screen is the same as texting while driving. However, to make voice-recognition work you need to say the words and phrases EXACTLY as they are in the manual. That takes practice and you have to get so familiar with the commands that you can speak them intuitively and precisely when you are in heavy traffic. If you have to think what to speak, or try to "figure it out" while under pressure, it is not helpful. But, if you know and practiced the commands well it works properly, is convenient and one of the main reasons why I will buy the 885t again. I tested the 885t next to a Nuvi 360. The Bluetooth operation, navigation engines and sound (loudness and clarity) of the two are exactly the same (I used Jill on both). Both had their firmware updates and it seems that Garmin uses the exact same maps and navigation logic in both units. That is to Garmin's credit as the 360 has been discontinued. Consequently, I am confident that, when the 885t is discontinued, Garmin will keep on updating the firmware for the 885t to whatever the "best" navigation logic becomes in the future. Therefore, it is considering the other features (not navigation logic) that will determine which model is most

Also, it does not come with an AC adapter. You need to go to Radio Shack and get a universal adapter. Otherwise, great deal. See all 1 customer reviews...
